Surkhet is popularly known as "Gateway to karnali". Rara, Shey phoksundo lake, five religious sites inside Dailekh, Kubinde lake ( Salyan) and several terrains can be taken into account through roadway Ratna Highway and Jumla Highway. It is the capital of the Karnali  Province, which is both a bustling town and a place of historical significance. The Dauit Bajai Hindu temple is considered to be the most important and as such, it has been declared a national heritage site. The 12th century Hindu Buddhist temple of Kakre Bihar is located near Birendranagar in an area noted for its scenic beauty. 
Another attraction on the outskirts of the city is a park with fountains and a small lake, known as Bulbul Tal, which is popular with locals and visitors alike. Bheri River is a common destination for rafting and paragliding has been recently started in Surkhet.Surkhet is open to Tourist connecting way to Kailash Mansarowar Tibet through Flights and helicopter charter from Nepalgunj or roadway Surkhet.
